Random connector with picture

I am in the middle of trying to fix my window and aux cooling fan. Will under the hood I noticed a connector not connected to anything. I have attached a picture. I am trying to find out where and what it should be connected to. This is a 1989 300E.

Looks like the plug which holds the resistor for engine timing. My '86 300E has a brown and green wires to a plug which holds the resistor. In your case it looks like the resistor was removed. If you trace the cable it should splice into a harness just below the master brake cylinder. There is a lot of discussion on this forum about removing the resistor for additional performance.
