Recommended Oil for C230
 

I just bought a 2000 C230 Kompressor. The owners manual says to check with my dealer for the recommended oil to use.

Anyone know what weight oil is recommended for this vehicle? What do you others use?

Get a Mercedes FACTORY APPROVED SERVICE PRODUCtS booklet, it will last other synthetic oils to use.

Didn't they change their recommendation to M1 5w40 recently?? If this is the case, I sure would like to know where I could buy the stuff.. :confused:

You can buy 5w-40 Mobil 1 at the MB dealer or in some places Wal-Mart if you want to provide it or do it yourself. You won't have problems with 10W40 M1. I buy my M1 at Wal-Mart and use it in 2 late model cars and have for many miles with no ill effects. I only use MB oil filters too by the way.
Oh, I live in Texas near Fort Worth so low temperatures almost don;t exist here. If my garage gets down to 45 degrees then it is really cold outside.

Congrats on the new car! I also have an 00' - absolutely love it, and it gets awesome fuel mileage! Be sure you are up-to-date with spark plug changes - the kompressor engines require more frequent plug changes, and their performance can be degraded if the plugs are not changed per factory specs.
