That thing is bad a-s-s. I would love to have that parked next to my sl600 in the garage. They are both the same colors, Black.
Hmm, this is giving me an idea... A 600TE. I may be dreaming, but when I am out of college, it could be a possibility. |
Scott Shell (Run.exe) is building a widebody 300TE. I am absolutely drooling over that thing. I am waiting to see the outcome. It will also be a nice lookin car.
|
Oh, and question for you. Do the W124 sedan, coupe, and wagon share the same dimensions?

About one year's tuition at a private college. Can you say Stafford loan??? |

I thought $40g was a good deal for that car; it won't go down in value.
|
$40 g's is a lot of money for that car. For 15 g's less one can find a mint Hammer(something more of a collectable than the wagon version) and have it shipped from oversea's.

I would tend to agree that 40 G-notes would normally be a lot of money for this type of car. Three things detract from the car's price (in my opinion). 1. The holes on the passenger side of the console left behind by a cell phone installation. 2. The cheap, OEM steering wheel. I would want the leather, Benz sports steering wheel. 3. When they installed the Euro lights and removed the headlight wipers they apparently used the old cover panels and so you can see the holes where the wiper motors used to be. I would have used new panels like I did with my car, or at least cover up the holes. On the other hand, this car seems to have "good provenance" (you need to read the ad on The Star, and that adds value to the car. |

LOL... I'm more of a UCLA fan than OSU ;-) (dad taught dentistry at USC though:P ) Well... either way you look at it, 40 G's is a lot of money for a W124. And when the car is commanding a high premium.. it should be in the best shape possible. Those minor faults should NOT be there like you pointed out. One thing I find strange is the AMG speedometer. I've seen several types of AMG speedometer.. one is only in Km/H and another is a rare Mph with Kmh. Since the car was US spec, and nearly all US car's I've seen(doesn't matter what make) have both Miles and Km/h on the speedo. I don't understand why it would only have Mph on the speedo. Either way... the jewel in the entire car is the engine of course. |

UCLA? What is that? Did they use to have a football team, about 30 years ago? :D What years did your father teach dentistry at SC? I know a lot of dentists from SC including some who taught there. Their dental school is awesome. they do good work and they do a lot of good work on behalf of the local community. Good people all around. Actually OSU is fine...I want them to beat the snot out of Texas (for obvious reasons). I just never liked UCLA...maybe it was the powder blue color... |
Tell your son he has excellent taste in automobiles. Your son is lucky to get a 300TE. They are fairly fun to drive, especially with the bigger swaybars, and with stiffened springs on it. And also, tell him he needs to pull the factory stereo, and put in something a bit more clear. Then, he will have the ultimate driving machine.... A Mercedes-Benz Wagon.
And then there is neils 360TE AMG.... That thing has got to be fun too. |

He loved watching the awesome W124 video clips...problem is he now thinks he will inherit an indestructible car... We got the sound system covered. Alpnine h/u (9851) with iPod and XM radio connections. We will soon install the Alpnine CD changer. :D |
Would really prefer a 119 V-8 if I had the choice, but the C-36 engine would be just as much fun.:D
|
 A 400TE would also be awesome.
But for now, I am going to stick with my 300TE. Maybe one day it will be a 300TE turbo though. |
Has this car sold? In the market for a kid-hauler....:)

On this issue of The Star there is another 300TE, in signal red, for sale. If I didn't already have one TE I would buy it. My preference at this point is to find one in Black with Palomino interior, MBtex if I can locate one. Sadly, I have no room for 4 cars, so my 300CE (2nd owner, my close companion for 12 years!) will have to go.... |
That hurts...I like my "new" 300CE.
But before giving up the 300CE I'd rather give up the E320. I too like the pre-face lift look. I have always liked the way Benz put a "radiator" in fornt of the car. The new style, with the "radiator" swallowed by the hood is not my cup of tea. I guess I am a traditionalist or just an old fart. :pleased: |

That car AFAIK is still for sale.
The owner is Dave Shimano (sp?), and he is a member of 500E.com..... That car has lots of history. It was in either Road and Track, or Car and Driver..... But AFAIK, its still for sale. I think you can catch Dave over at 500E.com for more details! Thats a sweeeeeet wagon though. Oh dear, I think I just wet myself... :) |

I got a ride a few years ago in a W124 AMG E60 that Barry Taylor had for sale.
Man that thing sounded bad, and it had gobs of torque. That car, I'd love to own. It was the successor to the original W124 AMG Hammer sedan, which you wouldn't kick out of the garage for dripping oil |

I hear ya man. I was this close to buying a 1999 CL500, but with the twins, I just couldn't see myself trying to squeeze them into their car seats with the two door coupe. I think a 124 wagon is a great solution. One of the advantages to a 1993 or newer w124 wagon is that they come from the factory with r134a refrigerant, and the a/c in my 1993 300E (3.2) blew ice cold. |

Well then, the AMG hammers have really expensive parts, always break, and love fuel..... ;) I think the only solution is to keep what you have got.... That, or put a car into storage, and give it to your kid when he becomes of age. |
"Silk and Fire" hehehe

Here is an E60 AMG for you, it needs new rear tires but seems in good shape otherwise.:D Every once in awhile an E60 pops up for sale, but damn they are rare.

E60 in Norge.
Thanks, that's the E60 all right.
Uff Da, those wacky Norwegians!!! It would need a License plate frame, that said: "Blow engine to Pass" hahaha |
No an E60 needs a rear plate that reads "passed" or "see ya":D
|
That E60 was a hard act to folow. Nice amount of wheelspin, and nice thick smoke..... The CLK did ok..

The W208/55 will retain it's title as "toy" until it gets replaced with something more sinister.... **cough** CLK63 Black Series **cough** :D A new house is on the plate before that however. My goal is to replace my 300CE daily driver with another daily driver. The Hammer Wagon, sadly, while fun, would not be a good fit for me at the moment. |
I have seen a couple of E55 wagons, two had all the badging removed. But the exhuast and wheels kind of give them away, still talk about a sleeper!:D
I imagin several people have been surprised by a Mercedes station wagon pulling on their sports car.:D:cool: Audi also has a sick wagon, with AWD and a stick. RS6 I beleive. |
My boss's friend has a Kleeman E55 wagon. Its got kiddie seats in the back, as well as E320 4matic badging on the rear. Talk about fun.
"Hey dad, that wagon just passed your porsche.." |
