Recirculating air W124..no effect??

Hi All:
When I push the recirc air button while on AC (trying to cool down a boiling hot car) it seems to have no effect whatsoever. I don't hear any noise difference when I push the button (should I?)...I dont feel any difference in temp at the vents (outside temp is 100 degrees Farenheit, and no, I didn't put a thermometer to it).
How does one know if the feature is functional? Should I be able to hear something or feel a noticeable difference at the vents?

Thanks! Brian

In my case, depressing that button closes off the fresh air flaps and a noticeable sound occurs.

The inner workings of these vehices can vary, so I don't want to steer you wrong, but you might have a faulty vacuum pod under the dash.

Doc for you car might be found at the following site:

It is an 11 year old car, sometimesthese things don't work as they should.

Wagons have a lot of glass around them, which makes them get hotter inside. Also, there is more interior surface to cool down.

My suggestion is to drive with the windows down until all the hot air is out...then wait until the fall to have it fixed...right now demand for a/c repairs is very high....

your problem is the two fresh air doors which can be accessed by removing wiper motor and covers to get to the blower motor.getting to the vacuum diaphrams that operate the doors requires an act of congress.best thing to do is to use duct tape to completely cover the intake vents in front of the windshield.black duct tape looks the best and then you will have more air flow and colder.david poole european performance deallas texas.
