How to remove combo top release handles
 

I am trying to remove the combination hard/soft top release handles. The don't seem to just pry off of the knurled spline (I assume there is one).

The CD service manual is no help.

Does anyone know how to remove these? Thanks.

pry the trim out of the middle of the inboard handle, inside that is a circlip, which allows it to some off, then the outboard handle slides off.

They have been in place for about 34 years now. After removing the handle cover, I placed a wedge behind the release handles and against the interior panel. I used a pin punch and set it against the center splined shaft in the middle of the handle. With a couple of sharp taps it popped right off.
