Question '98 ML 320 help

my sunroof cover was somehow slid in front of the actual window, and I can't seem to push it back. The problem is that this doesn't let the sunroof close completely, only slide fully forward but then not sink back into place, does anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this. Also, for an oil change, is it necessary to go to a dealer, since the Check Engine and oil lamp lights have appeared on the dash. Thanks!

I posted instructions on how to repair the wind deflector awhile back...seems no one else at the time dealt with this issue. Hope it helps!
