1987 300e spark plug help

i was trying to take out the spark plug but it seems that i cant get it out normally you just yank it out and pull it and it will come off but it doesnt work that way. How do you guys take your spark plug off and where is the fuel pump located at

Use a late VW plug wire puller or a pair of plug boot pliers....grip and turn as you pull...the rubber sleeve in the wire connector welds it's self to the ceramic of the plug(s).
If they come apart, you'll need new wire set.

As I told you before...under the floor on passengers side rear....plastic shield with a few plastic nuts and if earlier model, between the gas tank and rear drive axle.

the fuel pump is the two piece thing next to the fuel filter am i correct

dkveuro 07-24-2006 04:26 AM

Some cars have two pumps...yours has ONE.
There will be an accumalator, a filter, and a pump...the pump is the only thing with two WIRES coming from it.

when i took off the plastic cover i saw four things hanging it has this tiny thing that look like a filter and then next to it is the big fuel filter and nex to it is the two things separeted but position like the one you are describing but its two pieces

dkveuro 07-24-2006 04:47 AM

Irrespective of how many there are, ONLY a fuel pump(s) will have wires connected to it/them.....
The other parts are an accumalator and a filter.

i c what you mean ill go check on them

dkveuro 07-24-2006 05:00 AM

On SOME models, they are equipped with two pumps...If so, they are stacked together. Even so, they are the only items with WIRES coming from/to them.

Why do you need to get to them ?

Change the fuel filter.

i was trying to but the srew is so tight it look like it has been welded there but when it tried loosening the nuts a lot of fuel went out so i think the filter is still good

dkveuro 07-24-2006 05:24 AM

Fuel will flow when you loosen the banjo bolt...This does not mean the filter is okay !.

The noise you heard is the pumps trying to get fuel.....they run for a second or so after the engine stops....they are activated by the ignition spark signal with a delay programmed into the relay/ecu, so the pump runs for a second when you turn 'on' the key and for a second or so when the motor stalls and it looses the ignition signal.

Pumps make a noise when they are starved for fuel or they are fixing to quit.

The line nut and banjo bolt are tight....you'll need a metric wrench to undo them as well as a back up wrench, to stop the fitting from spinning on you.

Change the fuel filter, already !!!!!:)

yeah but i can loosen the banjo nut but not the screw on the clamp that hold the filter by the way you said when you can hear the pump it means it has no fuel or starving so this means its being cost by the filter is there also another way to stop the fuel when i take off the fuel filter

by the way so you mean if it welds itself on the ceramic on the plug it means i need to change the wires

dkveuro 07-24-2006 05:35 AM

No....the heat welds the inner rubber sleeve of the plug boot to the ceramic of the plug.....if the boot pulls apart when you eventually pull it off, you need new wire set.

Where you going to get a filter at this time of night ?
