W210 hood hinge question
 

Does the hood on my '97 E320 open straight up like I've seen on other older model Mercedes? I'm getting pretty tired of hitting my head on the center section while I'm working on the engine.:mad:

Yes it does. On the passengers side hinge down low, there is a metal tab, you push in on that while slightly lowering the hood and then push back on the hood after the tab is pressed in and it'll go back. Same thing to lower it back down but you really need to pull down on it hard to get it lowered. Once it's down to the normal position you can let go of the tab. From the factory the tab had an orange "PRESS" sticker on it.

Thanks. I've seen the orange "PRESS" sticker but failed to lower the hood down enough for it to disengage I suppose. Strange that the manual doesn't mention anything about this feature.

I'm embarassed to say I only found out about this feature on mine THREE YEARS after buying it!!!:o
