How do you remove electric connection from ign.lock set

I have under taken the task of trying to remove a broken key from my 1983 300turbo wagon . I have the lock set removed from the steering colum and can't get the wire harness removed . there are three plastic tips that I have tried in vain to push in and pull the wires out . Any suggestions on how to do this ??????????:

The key has to be in position 1, or 2. I don't remember which.

See stevebfl's solution: http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=53165&highlight=cut+screws

If the tumbler is out (don't know from your description), use a screwdriver to turn large slot behind tumbler kinda vertical.

Has to be in position 1, if you go back to position 0 you just ruined the steering wheel lock (if the lock cylinder is removed)
