SL380 Convertible Top Hydraulics

Oh boy, another new guy here, I just acquired a 94 SL380, my first M-B, and looking forward to sharing information and getting advice. I have already done much searching in your site with great success. This car was sitting for a year so I’m anticipation a few issues and some long nights after work digging deep in your knowledge base here.

The leaking hydraulic top hit my wife on her madden voyage, oops, well thanks to the link http://www.peachparts.com/Wikka/R129TopRelease I was able to fix both with ease. I filled the reservoir with the specified M-B fluid which was below the low mark.
Which leads me to my question, I can only assume there are many other hydraulic actuators that may be leaking that are not as obvious to detect. I found the diagram listing the 10 hyd assemblies on your site but not sure how to access these to check for leaks. Are they as prone to leaking as the two over the screen.

2 = 129 800 21 72
3 = 129 800 21 72
5 = 129 800 20 72
9 small/upper cylinder = 129 800 17 72 (left), 124 800 02 72 (right)
9 large/lower cylinder = 129 800 02 72
10 = 129 800 16 72

Is the pump for this only for the top or does it serve other accessories.

Thanks in advance from a newbie, both to your site and the exciting world of M-B.
Scott

It's true that any of the the cylinders can leak, but the two you've already replaced are the most common ones to fail. Just check the fluid periodically. I wouldn't start looking for leaks unless the level goes down.
