M102 vs. M103
I have some leftover maintenance parts from my old 300SEL(m103) such as oil filters and an air filter... and was curious to know if these items will fit my 2.0 190E(m102) car I have in Europe. I want to say yes... but rather be sure.
|
The WEB parts site here & at all of the other World Pac sites shows a 2.3 and 2.6 motor for a 190E for the 1991 model yr. Not sure about other years, so I wonder if your 2.0 motor is exclusive to Europe?
Anyway, the 2.3/2.6 1991 190E motor uses the same oil filter as the 1991 300-SEL sold in the U. S. Air filter - that may be different - can't say. You could simply pull the cover off of your AF housing and see if it fits your 190E. |

the 2.0 is essentially the same as a US 2.3, and there was also a 1.8 offered(m102). The 1.8 and 2.0 were not offered in the US. Problem is.. I'm at the moment in the US and my other car is in Europe. If it were near me, I'd have simply checked to see if it fit myself:) So now I know the oil filter will fit... just need to find out about the air filter. |
It's been by experience that the air filters are not the same.
My 201 with M102 engine takes a different air filter than a 201 with M103. Hope that helps. jp |
I agree that the air filter will not fit. The m103 have a bigger air filter.

Thanks guys.. so I am assuming the air filter for the M103 is too big for the M102? Well.. atleast the oil filters won't be going to waste :)
