Location of Expansion Valve 1983-380SEL????????????
 
Can anyone tell me where the Expansion Valve is located in a 1983-380SEL????// Thanks for any information.... Jim

On my 1989 420SEL it is on the driver side, inside the car, up against the center console, almost all the way back to the firewall.

It's under the driver's side kick panel, buried way up in there towards the center of the car, wrapped in foam insulating tape. Don't destroy the tape when you remove it - you need to replace the tape for proper insulation and function.

What is the Expansion Valve anyway? Is it the bottle on the front side behind the body named GAS?
