W126, Anti-Squat Rear Suspension?
I was on the Braingears site looking at some rear suspension PDFs (how to rebuild), and there appears to be two different rear suspensions on these vehicles... even on ones with SLS too!
What's the deal with the Anti-Squat stuff versus a regular rear suspension? Was it optional or what. |
It was used through 87. Not sure why but Mercedes decided to tank the whole idea..

Any advantage of it over the regular setup? I can get one for next to nothing...

Not that I know of..I had an 87 SEL w/ the anti dive/squat...didn't appear to handle any better then my current crop of SEC's (all have/had H&R's etc..)

Okay cool. Another one of the split year changes for the W126 :D
|
anti-squat?
|
Something with the rear trailing arms and sway bar. The sway was bolted directly to the knuckle it looked from the pictures.

apparently it didnt do squat...:D
seeing as they junked it |
LOL very nice use of the language there :D

rear suspension
i think the correct term was"anti-dive"seeing as it stopped the front of the car going down under braking so as to aid control of the steering in heavy braking situations.maybe the wording suffered in the translation? david poole dallas tx.
