The climate control on my 300e is acting strange lately. When the car is first started the climate control works fine. When I turn the climate control off and then turn it back on the pushbuttons and temperature wheel have no effect on the system. The only way to correct this is to turn off the ignition and re-start the car. The system then works fine. I have heard the climate control is a weak point on these cars. Is it time to replace? How can I test pushbutton unit before replacing? Can it be the ignition switch of some type of relay? Any suggestions are appreciated.

It sounds like your compressor is locking out. I would take a look at the compressor operation next time it acts up. You may need something in that area.
