2.6 won't idle or idles only high
 

Hi, newbie here. I'm having a problem with an '88 2.6 not wanting to idle smoothly and when it does it idles around 1700 rpm, anything easy I can look for without going to the dealer?
I tried searching the archives but nothing seemed to come back specific enough for me.

Check if your idle control valve is working. It should click open when you apply 12V to it.
