Accident Damage - Rear Spindle
Hi All
My car is a 1988 190E 2.6, it was in an accident recently where the rear wheel jumped over a median, causing the rim to break, the rear tie rod to bend, and ruining the thrust arm bushing - all on the right side. I replaced the thrust arm and tie rod, but now the right wheel is still out of alignment - it still points towards the driver side (not that much, but significantly inwards). I get screeching noises in left turns and sometimes going straight. On the highway, the noise disappears. Today, I took the car to a body shop and the guy made some measurements and said that the right rear spindle is bent and needs replacement. A new spindle is 900 Cdn from MB, and about half as much from european automotive. However, I am looking at a used part. My question is, how much would a used spindle be? Also, any MB-heavy junkyards/used parts places near San Francisco, CA? I'll be visiting there for a couple of days. Has anyone replaced their entire spindle? DIY? How long should it take? |
this doesnt sound like a spindle. in fact the mb has spindles only ont he front. this sounds like an a arm issue to me.
and it is something that can be replaced with used as it is not a wear item. tom w |
