Where is the Starter Lock-out relay (K38) on a '92 500SL
My '92 SL has the somewhat common problem where occasionally I turn the key and the dash lights all come on but the starter does nothing. I've replaced the starter (waste of money), and the problem persists. Based on all the posts I've read I'm fairly confident that it is either the Starter lock-out relay, or the electronic portion of the ignition switch itself. Just going from least expensive I thought I would check out the relay first, but I have conflicting information on where it is located and how to get at it, or if the '92 even has one at all!
Can anyone shed any light on this? |

It does have one, AKA neutral safety switch, and it's located on the side of the transmission. Follow the gear shift lever and connecting rod to the transmission and you will find it. It's not a terribly difficult job but it is quite tight.

K38 starter lock-out relays didn't happen on USA MODELS until the 1993 model year.
