1982 Mb 500 Sel And Amg Or Not I Can't Find This Car Listed Anywhere. So What Do I Do To Get Parts ??? How Do I Find Out If Amg Modified This Engine?? It Needs Head Gaskets And I'm Thinking Of Just Changing The Motor Cause It May Be Easier.

I'm not certain of start of production for the 500's, i had thought only 380's were being made back then. what makes this car an AMG? pics would help...

A 1982 500SEL would be a Euro only car. As for the AMG mods, you'll probably never know until you break down the engine, and even then you might not ever know. I would go under the assumption that there is no way in hell it's an AMG engine.

If it isn't an AMG engine, gaskets for a 1984 or 85 500SEL will fit. If it actually WAS produced in 82, you have a Euro-import grey-market car. Verify the year by checking the mfg date on the door pillar.

or it could be a mislabeled trunk, too.

there will be a lot of clues if it is a euro. look it over really well. if you can post pics we can help more.
