Code readers are becomming like cell phones and the triple AAA club card. You don't plan to use it , but feel better knowing it is there. With new cars being an over welling majority of complex electronics one does just pull out a screw drive or wrench on the side of the freeway anymore. I know this can not be a complex tool and replace the more expensive ones with their own software . My thoughs are more suited toward simplicity building on ones tool kit in a McGyver sort of fashion. Just enough to know were your problem may be and able to go on your way under your own power, or use a toe service.

The flyer I got from Braum tools states it reads codes on 1996 and later foreign automobiles and has factory technical asistance for a fee called "Diagnostic information Fee" once the code is retreived.

I sort of put this in the catagory of say paying for the AAA toe service and hoping not to have to use it but in a jam as an emergency item.
Since most of use who do our own work on our Mercedes-Benz automobiles are looking for way to help keep our cars running better this sounds like a tool one can added in the spare tire well with the rest of our tools and may be not have to think about, but now it is one more tool to help us on our way.
Hopefully the other is a tripe AAA card and a cell phone.
