Auxillary fan fuse keeps popping - what to check first?

I am sure there are hundreds of posts about this, but not sure if my same problem is related. I have a 1985 380SE and my fuse for the auxillary fan keeps popping instantly when it is time for the fan to come on.

The PO had installed a 25 amp fuse and it was only supposed to be 16 amp! How stupid is that! Even the 25 was blown.

What things should I check first? Thanks in advance!
