motor mounts 560 sel completely flat

Can the flat motor mounts cause it to idle almost not at all, and when it does get going down the highway after about 11 miles it looses power and stalls. any suggestions would be appreciated!

The motor mounts have nothing to do with engine performance. Your problems can be caused by a host of problems. Have you tried to search the forum for similar symptoms ?

flat mounts

only thing flat mounts will mean to you is that while engine running you can feel it thru the seat of your pants.you may find that you have a blocked catalyst[on exhaust] or that your flywheel timing pickup is going out or both.

yes i have posted once or twice before. i bought the car and they said it was overheating and had a bad head gasket.i replaced the gasket and put on a new radiator and put it back to gether and would not start at all. Messed with the safety switch and then just had to bypass it with a toggle switch. So now it starts but barely idles at all and when you drive it after 11 miles it boggs down and acts likeit has no power at all, you have to put the pedal to the floor to keep it going. not sure what else to try - not close enough to take to nearest dealer? Am i missing something? Maybe the guy drove it while it was overheating and caused some kind of damage ?

On my 85 500 SEL, I had a similar problem, although not to the same extent.. The car would be difficult to start, and idle really badly. When the engine was hot it was even worse. General performance was lacking.
It turned out that my CO adjustment was way too low. Make a note of the position of the screw, and turn it clockwise to increase the mixture, anticlockwise to decrease. If it does nothing, or make the car worse, Turn it back to the original position.

Ben.

i checked out a lot of older posts similar with my prob, they all say clean the idle control valve which i did, and i have to order new hoses. They are cracked in a few places. My main prob is it wont hold an idle at all- you have to keep your foot on the gas at all times or it dies. My ovp is black where when you check out the new parts they are all red topped with 2 10 v fuses where mine has one. Can that be the idle problem or are we looking at the idle control unit itself? The other problem i am having is with it bogging down and feeling powerless after about 11.5 miles down the road. you have to put the pedal to the floor to keep it going. just really confused. Maybe fuel pump relay? Dont want to have to replace any unneccesary parts- but need it to run!

With my car, 50% of the time I had to keep the engine running with my foot. It would take what seemed like forever to start when cranking. Sometimes it would fire straight away, other times maybe 30 seconds. If i was travelling along and came up to a stop light say, i'd have to brake with my left foot and keep the engine running with my right.
So it might be worth trying it... it costs nothing. I did nothing to make the adjustment go out... apparently there is a piston in the fuel distributor that sticks, and turning the screw frees it up.

Regards
