I finally had to ask

to see if my defroster is working the way it should. When I mash the defrost button it does a heckuva job defrosting but it never slows down the fan (does not matter which "fan" button is mashed) nor does it cool down even if I put the temp indicator toward 60 degrees F. It just continues to blow out hot air at a high velocity. It does an outstanding job of defrosting but is this the way it is supposed to work.
Also, when I push the LOW fan pushbutton the middle button pops out a little further than the other one. Is there an easy fix for this?
MB needs to call Honda and get them to help them with the design of the way the A/C controls works.

Yes, defrost is full blown heat with the condensor running.

I have the same chassis and according to the operators man., we are supposed to have a low speed fan selection in the defrost mode, but mine also does not.
I believe it is a typo in the man. as I checked with another E320 owner and his is the same.
Or we all have the same fault.
PS -- The man also calls for a heat dependent variable speed in the defrost/auto mode, but again I only have high in this setting.

I think on defrost, it is full blast all the time. Then you want to push the button with the 2 solid arrows (1 up, 1 down)--that's partial defrost--and you can control the speed that way.

thanks everyone. I have started punching the 1 arrow up/1 arrow down button and that seems to work great - at least then I can adjust the fan with the fan spd buttons.

In the owners manual, the fan is supposed to kick out full blast when the defrost button is selected. The fan speed in not adjustable in this mode. It is supposed to be used primarily to quick defrost for cold days. Think it's pretty annoying.

Following up the post of some time ago from engatwork about the climate control fan button coming out further than it's supposed to, I have the same problem except when I press the middle fan button the bottom button (assuming it was pressed before), flies out altogether. While somewhat entertaining to passengers I would still like to fix if possible.... any thoughts??
