I am in the process of putting on new rear brake pads and I noticed that the rear outside pad on the driver's side is worn very thin as compared to the other pads and I had difficulty removing the thin pad because the piston is frozen. I cannot pry it back. Use some WD-40?

Is it possible to save this caliper?

Thanks.

It may be possible to rebuild this caliper, but if the piston is stuck that fast you may be better off replacing the caliper. Check PartsShop and FastLane for prices.

Also, if you do replace the caliper be sure replace the opposing side caliper as well.

if you have acess to compressed air,put high pressure to the stuck side.you have to block off the good side. The air should blow out the piston. All that is inside is a rubber ring.Clean up the bore and piston, making sure you have no pits, and you are back good as new.Michael
