1991 300te 4matic question

I have a 91 300te 4matic. The car is running fine. I noticed that when I turn the key to position 2 all of the lights come on except the 4matic light. The triangle light in the MPH cluster lights as well. The 4matic is the only light that doesn't burn. At the recommendation of some of you all I decided to run 2wd until we have bad rain snow and sleet. I went to shut the tranny to 2wd by flipping the red test bar and was expecting the 4matic light to come on showing that it wasn't engaged..and of course, it didn't light...does it sound to you all that the 4matic bulb is burned out or is something else going on?

Thanks for your replies..

This sounds like the case. When you flip the test lever, the light will come on, and not go out again until you do the following. First, flip the switch back to the original posistion. Second, remove the battery cable. ( either one) for about ten seconds. This will reset the computer. Your 4matic WILL NOT work unless you do this. Even if you have the switch in the "on" posistion. Your 4matic light should still be on, so it must be a bad warning bulb

Yeah either that or alot of these bulbs just have a socket that presses into the back of the cluster, so maybe someone put one in the wrong hole. If you flip the lever do you see a light coming on that wasn't on before?

Gilly..nope..no new lights coming on when I flip the lever. If it is a bulb I'm fine because I hate looking at dash warning lights..so this would be a good thing for me...Thanks for your help! Ya'll have a great night.
