Well, yesterday I was checking my fluids as I filled up at a local gas station, Oil fine, Power Steering Fine, Brake Fine, Coolant looked fine (not going to open a hot tank

) and the hydra-mat suspension fluid was fine. Went to check my tranny fluid, pulled out the stick, cleaned it, and put it back in. Heard a funny noise as I was pushing it back down, so I pulled it back up. I was missing about 2 inches of dipstick

! I tried to get it out of the tube with a long magnetic tool, but it appears that it fell into the pan. So, after getting a quote of 50.00 for a new one, I went to a salvage yard and got two (one from a 190E and another from a 380SEL) for 10.00. I nursed it back home (about 15 miles) and got another car to go to the salvage yard with, but I suppose what I need to do is pull the pan, find the bottom of the stick, and get it out. I changed the tranny filter and fluid about 2000 miles ago, but I'll top it off with new fluid as well. Anything that I should watch for ?
Thanks, Dave.
