01 E-class Climate control - uneven driver/pass temps
 

Hello all - my first post here at the MercedesShop forum. I've had a problem with my E320 pretty much since I've had it. The drivers side vent temp is always warmer/hotter than the passenger side. Here in Georgia this manifests itself painfully during the summer. The passenger side vent temp will get ice cold as it should but the drivers side stays about 20 degrees warmer. It gets cool but not cold. I've had the settings both at LO and have even tried testing immediately at startup to see if I can determine if its leakage by the heater core valve on the drivers side. I am thinking this isn't it just because it seems to improve as the car is driven which would be opposite what you would expect with the engine getting warmer. Are there any flaps or other such thing that might cause this - its really starting to become a problem.
The dealer said it was a faulty evaporator which seems ludicrous to me.
Any help is most appreciated.

Typically this is a sign that the system is undercharged and needs some refrigerant...have you looked into that?

There are many posts with this complaint and that is usually its resolution, though the root cause is often a leak that still needs to be addressed. In my case it was a leak in the condenser which I replaced last week...now all is well again.

i agree, that is what i usually find as the cause for this issue
