124 rear suspension "Klunk"

I just started getting a "Klunk" from the passenger side rear suspension when driving over uneven pavement. I pulled the shock and thought I had the problem located because uneven pavement no longer produced the noise, but to my surprise it still "Klunked" when going over speed bumps.

I've found a little movement at the wheel carrier/control arm bushing but I'm not sure it could make so much noise. Could this be caused by subframe bushings and if so how do I test them? Could removing the shock reduce the noise from subframe bushings?
