rear end noise 90' 300ce

Am getting something like rear end bearing noise out of my car, 150,000 miles on it. The axle shafts were replaced new around 2,500 miles ago, along with all new rubber bushings, rear end mounts, flex disc's, tranny rebuilt, tranny and engine mounts. Dealer mechanic says rear end bullitt proof, but does not think wheel bearings are the problem. Any way to tell without dis-assembling the rear wheel hub and bearings? No slop in wheels. Sound is metallic grating noise tied to RMP. Cannot hear anything while run on rack while listening to car with stethescope. Noise has been there for some time, prior to all of work mentioned, but getting alot noisier and can feel it while seated in rear seats. Any suggestions? thanks! :(

Tom, I think he's referring to RPM or MPH.

Just to be sure why not lower the diff and pull the rear cover? Have a look inside, perhaps things shifted some..

I'm not sure what's left besides rear bearings or possible brake issue.

If metal is grinding metal you'll eventually find it if you look long enough.

Thanks for the input. I think taking the cover off the rear end will answer a lot of questions. Going to go ahead and do wheel bearings too, as I am going to Brembo drilled/ slotted rotors along with spring and shock work as soon as I can sort out best way to address castor camber issues on the front end when I lower it with Eibach springs, around 1.2". I meant to spell RPM, not rmp.
