emissions test, passed with flying colors

I was crossing my fingers that my 86 420SEL would pass the emission test. It has 182xxx miles and the idle is higher than I would like. That son of a gun was so good that they aborted the test partway through and gave it the "FAST PASS" on the screen that the tester sees. The printout showed that it was spewing less than 10% of the allowable pollutants on everything tested. I'll put the actual results on the forum later. Is this typical?

That's awesome, it means the motor is still pretty tight. Congrats.

Yeah, it seems like all Mercedes engines fall into the category of "gross polluter", and have to undergo the more rigorous testing.

Even when they pass, they just barely do so.

Your engine must be in really good shape to run so clean.

There was a guy in there with a horrible old Taurus that had just failed for the 5th time in 2 days...he was close, but just a smidge over the limit. The more I think about it, his car is probably newer than mine.

I have never had a car fail that was in good shape.

My two diesels make a joke out of the CT test. The limit is 20ppm(I think thats the amount) and the SDL is a bit under 1. The SD which I consider to be a smoker was 4 I think.:D
