Problem with Cruise Control or throttle aucillator?

Hi,

Hopefully someone can shed some light on my challeges....

First off, a few months ago I took my '95 E320 in to a dealer cause my car was not idling properly when under a load such as turning on the AC, etc...the dealer said I needed a new throttle aucillator (sp?) and a new wiring harness....after I saw the cost...I just continued to drive the car as is with...with one foot on the gas at all times now so it won't stall....

I did not ask at the dealership but I've been hearing a clicking sound from the floor area of the front passenger seat...so today I decided to invesigate....it turns out the sound is from a metal box on the floor of the passenger seat (1245455532)...I spoke with Phil at mercedesshop and the part number is for the cruise control which is also involved with idling...the actual relay that is clicking is not a servicable item according to phil (may need to replace the entire cruise control box) but info on the relay inside the box that is make a constant clicking sound is:

Siemens
V23072
C1059-x109
Germany
BC4JD..

The relay looks like something that could be pulled out and replace, but I have not tried to remove it.....

Also, since the cruise control box is involved with idling...could that be the source of my idling problem or just a symptom of a bad throttle aucillator???????

Both the cruise control box and the throttle auscillator are expensive and I'm hoping someone can help me isolate my problem(s)...

Thanks

Joe Kintz

cruise control/idle

Joe;
If the wire harness is bad (your car falls in the production period for bad wiring) replacing the actuator or control unit is foolish. Replace the wire harness first and have all the codes cleared then see if idle and cruise are restored.
It rare for the control unit to go bad even with a bad harness.

How do you have the codes cleared? Almost impossible to find anyone who has a computer to look at this year model car.

Cruise Control

With all due respect to Mike Freeman's comment about the wiring harness.......
if you want to pursue the cruise control, the resident expert is member James Dean. PM him, he will help you out.

After 8.5 years, I'd hope OP has had his problem solved already.
