E 320 Climate Control Display Removal
I am looking for information on how to remove the climate control display in a 2002 E 320 Wagon AWD. I have a rebuilt one that I will be putting back in.

You need two little tools.
They fit into the slots on either side of the display and allow you to manipulate the tabs/clips behind the cover to remove the unit. Tools are cheap at a dealer. Don't forget to be certain that the light bulb in the display is functioning before you put all back together again.

Thanks for the reply. I have the removal tools and will check the lights out.I am glad it is simple.

Make sure you get the version coding changed.

Version coding? Wow now what is that all about?:dizzy2: I have heard that it just goes back in and that's it? Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks

Has to be hooked up to the MB shop computer and they make sure the coding in the computer is correct in that the control panel has selected the correct chassis and engine combination that it's installed in to. If the rebuilt panel was in a different chassis/engine combination it isn't correct. I'm not sure what the consequences of this being wrong are, but you're supposed to do it. These panels were used in several different chassis.

Hey thanks for the reply I guess I still have to go to the wheeler-dealer after all. I sure don't have a MBshop computer handy.
Thanks again for letting me know about that small detail. |
Is this one that can't be version-coded through the front panel?
