Flare on tranny shift
Hi,
My car's an '87 190E 2.3 8V. I replaced my vacuum modulator a few months back because my car was shifting hard and I was loosing a lot of tranny fluid through the modulator. I've been test driving it ever since as recommended. I noticed that if I do granny driving, the shifting between gears is smooth. But if I do a power take-off's I noticed that it flares between gears. Short flares only, around a second (meaning one thousand one) before it catches the next gear. Is this normal? If not normal, what does this indicate? I never drove this car in perfect condition (but I'm trying to get there) so I have no point of comparison. Hope you guys can enlighten me. Thanks in advance. |
adjust the new modulator that you put in by one full turn clockwise.you may need more but this is good place to start.

Thanks for the reply.
Just a follow-up, so the modulator isn't that sensitive? Any idea how much psi change per turn? I don't have a vacuum gauge so I'll do it blind. |
