How much coolant level drop do you experience after coolant replacement?

As some air goes out of the cooling system, the level drops.

In my case, I added almost 1 liter in a couple of months to compensate for the the level drops. 1992 300D. 275 k miles.

Remove one of the temp sensors at the upper radiator hose fitting when filling with coolant so there's less air to bleed.

I don't know how much you drive in a couple of months but I'd expect the system to self-bleed after 3 or 4 starts.

No leaks? No billowing white smoke?

No white smoke.

the air is trapped til the t stat opens. to open it the car needs to be warm enough to open it. another way is to take off the upper radiator hose and fill from there.
