how much coolant drop as air goes out?
How much coolant level drop do you experience after coolant replacement?
As some air goes out of the cooling system, the level drops. In my case, I added almost 1 liter in a couple of months to compensate for the the level drops. 1992 300D. 275 k miles. |
Remove one of the temp sensors at the upper radiator hose fitting when filling with coolant so there's less air to bleed.
I don't know how much you drive in a couple of months but I'd expect the system to self-bleed after 3 or 4 starts. No leaks? No billowing white smoke? Sixto 93 300SD |
Last coolant replacement: June 9, 2006. 269549 miles.
Last top off: addition of about 450 ml. October 8, 2006. 274936 miles. Do I have slower air bleed due to slower engine speed (diesel)? No white smoke. |
the air is trapped til the t stat opens. to open it the car needs to be warm enough to open it. another way is to take off the upper radiator hose and fill from there.
