Central Locking Pump Parts
On my 1995 S350 (W140), the central locking pump under the rear seat is out. It is the motor that is bad. Does anyone know where I can purchase the motor alone. The numbers on the motor are as follows:
13V 9411 1 397 220 145 1137222815 7 3.95 I contacted Bosch and they said they are Mercedes propriatary parts. Mercedes only sells the whole unit. Anybody been through this?

This is an item that shows up on eBay a lot. You could get one from a wrecking yard, sometimes for a song, depending on the seller of course. I've had good luck with used ones.

What doesn't work when that pump is shot? I thought the ACC actuators were fed (as it were) by the central locking pump. In my 93 SD I don't see a line from the engine pump to the cabin. My closing assist pump is out of the car and the ACC works.

The central locking and the trunk handle doesn's work. The electric motor is all that is wrong with mine. I found a new whole unit for $322 and I found a place in California that rebuilds them for $400. So I guess I will go for the new unit. The guy that rebuilds them would not sell me just the motor. He said it took him 6 months to find out the supplier. Big markup in this item. You should be able to buy just the motor for under $100. After I replace my unit, I am going to take the motor out of the old one and see if a local alternator shop can fix mine. Probably just need new brushes.

There are no parts available, there are some rebuilts out there search the advertisers. I would not buy one on EBAY unless you know lots of "it worked when it left here"
As to "sixto" the closing pump just does that, draws in the doors and trunk lid. The locking pump does lock/unlock, back up rods, vacuum headrest release, trunk handle that in addition to providing pressure for the lumbars, and HVAC vacuum "backup" when the engine does not provide it. Many of the rebuilts come from "Programania" or something like that, they also buy cores from mechanics. |

Sorry to go on a tangent but the closing assist pump motor (different numbers than the central locking pump motor) has a brown wire and a black wire. The brown wire goes to a PCB hole marked MP1, the black wire goes to a PCB hole marked MP2. The Which is (+) and which is (-)?
Thanks, Sixto 93 300SD |

I started looking for a motor for the vacuum pump and when you take the square plate off of the motor you will see that it is made by JOHNSON.I looked them up and found a motor 9 to 18v,that has a longer shaft. cut the shaft to size, and you are in business. You must make a flat side in the shaft like your old one.The part comes from CHINA it costs less than $10, parts and shipping.

These same style motors are used in a host of small appliances including hand held battery vacuum cleaners (dust busters) and slot cars.
The trick is to get a motor that spins at the same RPM as the original. The motors burn out usually because of a vacuum leak somewhere in the door or HVAC controls. If there is no leak the system becomes vacuum "charged" and the motor stops operating. If there is a continuous soak of vacuum the motor operates continuously. There is a detector in the pump that shuts off the electric motor when enough vacuum is "stored" in the system. Wheh replacing a faulty pump or repairing the motor makes sure you get a vacuum tester and find where the leak in the system is. - usually the HVAC flap rubbers gone bad, perished or broken. |
