W210 E55 No start
Hey all;
I could use some help/advise here- 2000 E55, 60K Miles. I don't know if these issues are related, but here goes- Wednesday: No problems. Get my new wheels/tires from a 2006 E55 and install them. After install, I hear a clicking noise from the right rear. Gets worse going left, almost goes away heading right, then goes away completely. These is nothing on the tire, but it sounds like there is and it is hitting in inner wheel well. Sometimes there on restart, sometimes not. Friday: Got K-MAC alignment bushings had them installed and the car aligned. Worked out perfectly. Later that day - car cranked for a while longer than normal, then started. Saturday: Normal cold start, ran a few errands. Go to get the kids Pizza, cranks, but no start. After 10+ tries, car starts. Back at home, rests for night. Sunday: normal cold start. Wife go shopping 5 minutes from house. car sits 30 minutes, cranks, no start. After 30+ tries, car starts and gets home. So, we still have the right rear clicking noise that eventually goes away, and what seems to be a hot no start condition. Could it be the CPS, even though the car runs fine once it starts and has not died while running? Maybe the fuel pump? Suggestions? TIA Gary in NY |
Can't help you on the N0-Start, but I'm pretty sure the clicking noise in the rear is caused by the wheelbolts ( too long ) hitting the parking brake mechanism. ;)

Agreed on the wheel bolts. I'd be careful as you may have already damaged the parking brake.
No start, sure could be the CPS, or the fuel pump, or even a bad key. Try bringing another key with you to try if it doesn't start. Gilly |
I used custom shorter bolts to mount the wheels. I did recheck to make sure I didn't use one of the original bolts. not the case.
I'll try out the spare key, then replace the CPS. Is there an OVP relay in this car that could also be the problem and if so, where is it? Thanks for your replies, it's appreciated! Gary |
No OVP

No OVP, but I believe it has the dreaded K40 module instead.

Gary, confirm that the lug bolts you used for the 2006 wheels are the correct length by comparing the thread projection of the original lug bolts and the original wheels with the new combination of lug bolts and wheels. Obviously you'll have to do that with one of the new wheels off the car. If the new lug bolts are too long I recommend buying 20 replacements even if the front lug bolts don't have an interference problem so they all match. Different length lug bolts on the same car will only cause future problems. Be sure to buy lug bolts from a MB dealer. I've used aftermarket lug bolts with threads that were not cut precisely and had a slight interference fit.
