Anyone put a Rec 8 module in a W126?

Hey there. I posted this in the diesel discussion, but didn't really get a response.

I want to hook up my 300SD with keyless entry and I studied the DIY article for installing the Rec 8. Seems easy enough, but in looking for somewhere to buy the Rec 8 online, I found a post on the mbca site about the rec 8 not working with all cars.

So, has anyone put a Rec 8 in a W126, and did it work? If you installed something else, what was it, how much, and was the install similar to the DIY for the Rec 8?

Thanks!

The 1983 300SD will NOT lock/unlock the driver's door with keyless entry unless modifications are made; there is NO vacuum actuator in that door; only a switch.

You could run a vacuum line to the driver's door and add a 1985+ actuator/switch, or do what myself, and others, have done, and "piggy-back" an electric actuator to the driver's side door lock which will then actuate the switch and run the system just the same as if you were using your key.

Pindelski.com (moderate subscription cost; no affiliation) has a complete "how-to" on it.
