Poor Starting
I bought my 190E, 2.3, new in 87 and have developed starting problems since last winter. The symptoms are : after the car stands idle 8 - 10 hours it takes 10 to 15 cranks before the engine will fire up. After that it runs like a clock. Restarting only requires 1 - 2 cranks, etc. I´ve
had the car in the Mercedes Shop on 2 occasions regarding but they could not apply a fix since the problem is sporadic (like going to the dentist and when you arrive the tooth ache has disappears). I have swapped out several of the components, e.g., Bosch JE Pressure Stabilizer, Fuel Pump Pressure Resevore, new Fuel Pump Filter, Temprature Sensor, Spark Plugs,
inspected and cleaned the Distributer Cap. I also checked the OVP as best I could with an ohm meter, etc. I´ve read several posts regarding OVP problems, however; the ECU must be getting current, since after the motor once starts every thing returns to normal. The problem does not seem ambient temprature related since it also is there in the summer months. Incedentally the OVP has two fuses and by the looks of a schmatic printed on the side the circut seems duplicated with
two diodes and one transistor in the unit. I really need some advice. Thanks.
