Need Feedback

Hi Everyone,

I've been looking into getting a family car for the wife to drive. A 96 S320 has presented itself. Although it's not my first choice (ideally looking for a 94-95 w124) this has caught my attention. I've looked at the car and driven it.
Concerns I have are, the SRS light is on, obvious faults could be air bag from impact?
Price, what would you offer for a MB that's been in an accident?
Of the 2 people I've talked to, whom's opinions I respect, I've been told to stay away from a car like this that's been in a front end accident.

Any input would be greatly appreciated

As a general rule a Canadian car is OK, even ideal, for a Canadian, but I agree with most of your other comments.

I'm aware of the wiring harness issues, I have a 93 w124 cabrio. I guess at this point it would be something to consider when making an offer.

With all that's been said so far would either of you put an offer on the car if you were in the market? If so what would you offer?

If I was buying it for my family $10,225 USD.

I would plan on a minimum of $3000.00 USD for base repair, before driving it.

* Impact damage???
* SRS DUAL AIR BAGS, major issues possible, ($3000.00 USD)???
* Wiring harness, major issues possible???
* Any vehicle service records???
* Type Of Vehicle Title- Branded Rebuildable???

That sounds like a salvage title, doesn't it? That would mean the description that seems to imply it was just a small accident isn't telling the full story. Sounds like a money pit waiting to happen. To me, this series of car should only be bought via private party sale where you get to talk to the original owner who has all the service records. This just isn't the type of car you buy off of ebay or from a slick used car dealer (many ebay sellers are worse than bad used car dealers!).

My $.02,
Doug

I have talked to the owner and drove the car last Sunday.
The car was in a minor front end accident. It was purchased from Dominion Auto Wreckers, a local wrecking yard. I remember seeing it on the website ironically. The guy who has it listed on ebay purchased the car from Dominion and fixed it. He's been driving it for about year. Service records are with the car and has been serviced regularly by an MB dealer.
WHUNTER - your points are all things I have considered, just wasn't sure of the money to correct it.
Thanks for all your info, but I think I'll be passing on the car.

Joe
