Where can I find info on 16v rear end rebuild

Any body know where I can find info on rebuilding the rear end pumpkin/differential on a 16v?

What is the problem? I have rebuilt at least 20 of them..most for racing, but several for the street. What do want to do with the car?

The front seal blew. I want to take it apart and inspect for damage and wear. I need to know how to set pinion depth, and any other MB specific items and measurements I should be taking. I've never had one of these apart before.

W/o a MB special tool setting the pinion depth is a calculated guess.

Are you replacing all of the bearings?? IF so then...

BEFORE the differential is dis-assembled measure the depth from the rear cover mating surface.. You will need to make sure that the pinion is still at that height when the pinion bearing pre-load is set correctly.

You can find the information right here.

According to current discussion on the Stu Ritter list, you'd have better luck rebuilding an automatic transmission.

Take it to a professional.
