1999 C230 Shocks?

I have a 1999 C230 Kompressor that needs new shocks. I have looked at Bilsteins but I can't find any Comports....just HD. Does anyone know who makes the OEM or a suggestion on what shocks would be best for my car?

You might try calling Phil. He might know where you can get the comforts or can uote you on them. Just click on BUY PARTS and you will see his phone # (and his photo).

The OEM will be stamped on the lower portion of the shock usually. Turn the wheel hard left or right and check each side, you should be able to see the name somewhere. Boge-Sachs is common.

Note all the part numbers and then call that manufacturer if you want to replace with the same product. Phoning Phil always works too.

What is prompting you to want new shocks?

I thought mine were bad too, then I put on new Michelins and got an alignment.

Made it into a new car - 97 C230, 136k. Original shocks

1999 C230 Shocks?

I have noticed that the car dips when braking, sways too much in turns, and when the wind blows, you can feel the car moving in all directions. I took it to my mechanic and he said it needed new shocks too. It has 106K miles.

yeah, mine do the same stuff, but they dampen rebound just fine. I'm upgrading to HDs when I do mine, which will probably be next month. Worn or not, I want to firm up the ride. I have a feeling if you put on OE "comfort" Bilsteins, or Sachs, you won't notice mich difference. I'd go for the stiffer shock to make it worth your while.
