deciphering a VIN

WDB123243EA050189

I believe this is a euro 230 coupe. Any deciphering would be appreciated.

Double Check that # Here is what returned

Datacard for VIN WDB123243EA050189 is not found
1) VIN was misspelled in the request form;
2) VIN was erroneously read from vehicle body or documents;
3) VIN is not of an original vehicle and was forged by criminals;
4) The vehicle was produced in late 2005 or 2006, and is not included yet in our database

I am having him double check....

i'll be back in touch.

I don't think a true Euro would start with WDB...

Refer to Number 1 - 4 above:D

I also tried calling the dealership listed in the auction. Voice Mail and Mailbox was full - not getting good vibes.

hmmm...he returned one e-mail.

said a/c was not ice cold... little to no dripping... and tranny sometimes shifted hard into 3rd

those were the questions i asked. it would be a seldom used vehicle for me..but one that i would keep indefinetely.

this summer i tried to buy one from a florida guy who was moving oversees...but he wouldn't let his go for a reasonable price.

Just looking for a Coupe? IMHO - very leary of anything north - rust

lee polowczuk 11-08-2006 11:27 AM

really only interested in coupes... have a 124... wouldn't mind a 123... can afford a 108. I keep my eyes open for a 560SEC...but those things scare me

you don't see too many of either of these in the town i live in.... i don't like to see myself coming and going.

See smaller bumpers and a 2.3 Injected 4 cylinder.

Whoever federalized the car added the WDB to make 17 chars. Pretty common back in the gray market heydey.

The Russian VIN website usually takes WDB + Euro VIN but doesn't in this case. There's a Euro 240D in L.A offered on eBay. You can run that VIN.

I own a 1982 200 gas model with m102.920 (the one with 175CDT Stromberg carb and 109 Hp) and i am %100 sure that VIN starts with WDB.
I think it all same around the world after 1980.
