Rear camber on 95 E420
 

I stared to feel some vibration at speed which felt like a out of balance tire! Took it to the shop where I got my tires and told him to check and see if any out of balance ! Shortly there after he called me over and said I had more than a balance problem!:confused: The rear drivers side tire on the inside of the tread was GONE as in the wire was hangin out! I bought a new pair of tires and a contacted my front end align guy ! The local MB guru said there was a toe adjust on the rear! We got it on the align mach and we did have a toe prob but was more toe in that out but was told that I had more than normal neg camber which it seems there is no adjust?:confused: So if no adjust how can I get some pos camber in the rear? :cool: Any comment will be appeciated!;)

Normal rear camber on a W124 chassis is approx -0.75deg..shouldn't have a problem unless that gets to -1.5 to -2.0deg.

I'm going through the same thing with my 1995 E300D. My rear inners have worn exactly as you described, can't even drive it in the rain until I get new tires on it (today or tomorrow, finally).

I had the alignment done, and I've got new rear shocks to help bring the butt up a bit, but I've gone over all the bushings (subframe, in particular) to check for too much wear and can find nothing wrong with the rear.

When asking for advice among people who used to own w124s, the answer was "That's just they way those w124s are. You have to buy new tires when it happens."

Not what I wanted to hear, either...

What were the rear camber readings from the alignment..

Rear spring sag is a fact of life on any car over 5 years..rear shocks have very little or no effect on camber..

Check the rear control arm outter bushings.. they will cause neg camber and are often over-looked...

i see this a lot.on top of the springs of mercedes ,front and back are rubber pads.they are usually available in four diff sizes.if you go up one size it will compensate for spring sag.i just finished a 74 450sl and it is back up to it's original level.these pads are dealer only and cost all of 15 doll each.

I'm getting ready to do HDs on a 10 year old C with 137k miles. The rears do sag about 1/2 inch. Would you suggest new springs? If so, all around?

If not, will spring pads suffice, or will they just cause the spring to compress more (which I would think is not the best idea)

Count the " nibs " on the rear springpads.
If you have 2's right now, you could go to 4's ( thickest available ).
That would get you 1/2".
If the springs are not broken, I would not replace them.
If you do replace them, do both rears. ;)
