If the gasket is compromised around an oil feed passage, oil pressure will send oil into the coolant passages. Coolant pressure won't be high enough to return favor. If you put off repairs long enough coolant will find a way to the oil

It IS the head gasket.
no 2 ways about it. If it was a crack, it would flow both ways. Like the other guy said. Oil pressure is higher sends over oil but not water.
