Odometer...how can I tell if it flipped
I purchased a 79 450 SEL with an odometer reading of 86,472 miles. How do I know if this is 186,472 or 286,472?
Does the odometer restart after 100,000 miles? |
odo has 6 digits, it will flip after 999,999

Thanks, I feel better knowing that I bought a
79 with 86,000 actual miles.....I do know that it is a 2 owner, garage kept and most local driving.

Normally, if an odometer has been tampered with, the numbers will not line up 100 % ( unless done by a real " Pro ").
You can also look for other telltale signs, i.e. brakepedal rubber badly worn, etc. ;) |
