2.3-16 noise in engine bay...
Hello...
Hoping someone can help with a possible diagnosis...
I am driving a 1987 2.3-16 that had the timing chain and tensioners replaced approximately 30,000 miles ago. During a recent cross-country trip, the car developed a noise in the engine bay. After running at higher speeds for a half an hour or so, there is a "humming buzz" that can be heard inside the car. If I stop the car immediately, the noise continues for five minutes or less, but if I shut off the car and restart the engine, the noise disappears. The noise sounds like it is coming from the engine block at the fuel injectors. The noise does not appear to affect the performance in any way. Any help would be appreciated... I have a couple of GREAT mechanics in the San Francisco area (Tony & Bob Auto in Burlingame) and a good mechanic in Florida, but NO ONE in Michigan! I'm getting ready for the next leg of my America Tour in a few weeks from Michigan to the Florida Keys and would like to solve this problem before the trip!
Thanks in advance!
