1988 420 SEL- Start up problems

1988 420 SEL-

No matter if it warm or cold outside. When I go to start the car, it take atleast 8 min's for the car to idle steady enough to drive the car. While I am giving the car gas at a steady RPM for about 5 min. If I let my foot off of the gas, it will die..

Even when the motor is up to TEMP, it still does this for 5 or so min's. It is very rough on the idle. However, when I drive the car it has a tad of a rough idle in gear but not near as bad. The car fires up great if I shut it off...run into the gas station or so ..but if i leave it sit for more than an hour--- It's back to square one ....

Does anyone have any clue what this could be ??

Thank you for your response--

The ABS light comes on AFTER the car is up and running well--- so you are correct at the time I am trying to start it up ...the ABS light is not on.

It does shift kinda hard .... I am assuming you have had this issue ...could you give me some more symphtioms I could look for ..... You sould like you are dead on, with understanding my problem.....

I am very new to this-- Is this issue to cheap or expensive to fix?

Also now that you bring up the ABS...would this be the reason that when the car first drives (with the light off)...the brakes seem to go to the floor and make a very nasty sound as if it is hitting metal?

Ok I think I just found out what the 420 SEL stands for-----

It's cause there are 420 Small Evil vacume Lines ...

JEEEEEEEEEEEZZZ!! There's like a million of those things----

I am used to working on Chevy 350 Blocks with 4 lol ...

Any quick guide to try and find out what line it could be???

Ok just got back from the shop and here is what I found out-

I sprayed starter fluid on every hose-- no leaks

HOWEVER! I sprayed on top of every injector. The passenger side of the car, when I sprayed on top of the injector made the Idle jump from where it was _5 thou to 8 thou_ all the way up to a steady 1150 .....and it stayed solid....intill the fluid was done working---

My assumption is that I need new seals -- would that be correct?
