The driver's seat of my 300E is losing back support but the passenger seat is still firm. Is it possible to switch the two seats.. do a kind of tire rotation? I am willing to disassemble and reassemble whatever hardware is necessary.

That is not possible on the manual adjusted seats (unless you do not mind having a hard time readjusting the back rest), but you probably have US power seats...and to be honest: I don't know anything about that luxury...
greetingz, |
Yep your right. Power seats. I'll take a closer look this week end.

The only thing I can think of that would hinder the seat rotation would be the seatbelt buckles. I'm not sure if you can move those from one side of the seat to the other.
Oh, you won't be able to use the armrest, either. |

2. Not possible to switch the 2 seats as you would have some technical problems from the electronics, together with the positioning of the nuts and bolts. |
Switching the two seats is definitely not possible, but switching the backrests only might be (I didn't read the post well enough last night/morning).
It depends on the location of the backrest adjusting motor and cogles whether you can exchange them or not. It is not a problem for the headrest adjusting or the possible heated seats option, but it depends on the location of the adjusting devices. greetingz, |
Ok MBenz... But as pointed out I would lose the arm rest... unless I want it hanging out the door!

I've not known a straight forward sawp of backrest, but if its indeed possible, I can say its something I learnt today. I would imagine the extra mods required for the swap over, and yes - that part with the handrest too.
