Vibration through floorboard.

Had the winter wheels re-balanced this week, after experiencing a slight steeringwheel vibration.
THAT vibration is gone now, but I experience a tingling vibration through the floorboards.
This starts at @ 65 mph & continues up to about 75 - 80 mph.
It's enough to make your feet numb after a while.
Any suggestions from the vibration experts?

Did they cure the steering wheel vibration by rotating tires front to back?

I had the front wheels balanced first, which eliminated the steeringwheel vibration, and then decided to have the backwheels done as well.
Pretty sure it is not a wheel/tire issue.
I was thinking maybe driveshaft related or something of that nature.

I would check the flex discs on the drive shaft, but i'm not sure that would be speed related usually you would feel that all the time. I would still check those though.

Did a visual inspection on them.
The rear disc looks 100%, the front is a little harder to determine.
Maybe I'll just replace the front one, as I understand, that is normally the one to need replacing first. ;)

How many miles do you have on the car?

90 000 miles. ;)

I had a similar issue with my 95 wagon. It turned out to be a slightly out of round wheel on the back. That might be the case even though the balancing machine says the wheels are in good balance. Try flipping the rears with the fronts and see if the floor board vibration goes away... and the vibration is felt in the steering wheel.

That's a good idea tork!! Manny, I had the tires balanced on our 00 e320 and it helped a little but I believe they are just out of round. If it's not the tires I would have to believe the motor mounts are at fault. Both motor mounts on our car were shot when we first bought it and the vibrations felt through the car were horrible. Especially when in drive or reverse with the brakes on. I had both motor mounts and the transmission mount changed and now all is smooth, well except for the out of round tires....

Thanks Dale.
Sounds like I'll have to get-down & dirty.

Put some lead on it

That's the MB approach - weight it down until it can't move.

Problem solved.
Cause: Front Flexdisc. ;)
