What is that sound? Right front wheel area

Our car is making a sound that appears to be coming from the right front wheel area. We had the brakes done about a month ago and just today, it sounds like there is a stick or something rubbing in there, but I saw nothing as I move the wheel from side to side. It makes the sound when I turn the wheel as driving. I do not hear it when driving straight and not on all turns....I thought about checking the steering fluid but cannot see the reservoir anywhere and the manual says nothing about it....!?
The car is a 1990 300E. Does anyone have any suggestions of where the fluid can be checked? I had thought it could be power steering fluid...
Thanks
Mark
