1998 ML 320 oil leak and Shop repair manual

Good Morning, I'm a back street mechinac for many years, and the only way I could aford this car is to do the repairs myself. I didn't realize untill after that this viecle is a nightmare and very costly to repair. Mercedes has a monoply on its parts and liquids. Trying to get any info from the dealerships is useless. For some reason they make you think your stupid and say all the fluids are only Mercedes. Well I use full syn. Valvoline. Anyway to get to the point. Is there a book Manual a SHOP repair manual with full DEtailed info???. Or if not does anyone recomend a great CD?? and where??. Also I repaired a tranny leak, and bought a shop dipstick, NO dipstick, How arragent MB is. I have now a motor oil leak, located on the drivers side, front of the motor, just above the belt tension pully. It leaks I can see it behind a plate with two bolts aprox 6-7mm. and leaks just behind it like a gasket or something. Any ideas??. Thank You,
Sam

Sam,

I think you'll find that everyone on this forum is very helpful, and you may be able to get by without the shop manual. WIS is only available on CD-ROM from MB. For the rare occasions when you really need it, you can access the same information online (for a fee, of course).

Regarding the oil leak, I had a similar problem. It's real easy to fix.

dont get discouraged, those early ML's had their problems but once you work your way though fixing them, it should be a good car to have. get your parts online and you should save a considerable bit of money in the long run. ML's are one of my favorite, and easiest models to work on.
